Living Water Jn. 4:10-14 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
Getting saved is like taking a drink of living water [Jn 4:10-14]. It’s that easy. And it’s that lasting. Jesus said, after a drink of living water, you will never thirst again [Matt 5:6]. When you get saved, your spiritual thirst will be quenched forever by the well of water springing up into everlasting life. That’s because the well is in you. The water comes from within; not from without.
You get this living water by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the bread of life [Jn 6:35, 47]. Notice, that the woman at the well, who was saved, never took a literal drink of water; she left her water pot [Jn 4:28]. Her thirst for living water was quenched by believing on Jesus. The other Samaritans were saved the same way [Jn 4:39-42].
Once you drink of the living water by believing on Jesus, out of your belly flows “rivers of living water,” [Jn 7:37-38]. These rivers of living water are the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God dwells in you and fills you. Paul said, “be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit,” [Eph 5:18]. When the Spirit fills you, he doesn’t fill you to the brim, he fills you to overflowing. Look what happened to the apostles and to the church that was in Jerusalem when they were filled with the Spirit [Acts 4:31-33].
When you read about water like this flowing out, it reminds me of Prov 5:15-18. There the waters are dispersed abroad; the rivers run in the streets. When rivers of living water flow out of your belly by the Spirit of God, others are going to be affected by what the Spirit is doing in your life. The woman at the well went into the city to tell others about the Lord [Jn 4:28-30]. Others were saved because of her testimony [Jn 4:39].
According to Rev 22:17, you, as a member of the bride of Christ, work with the Spirit to invite others to “take the water of life freely.” Have you ever let the Spirit of God use you to tell another person about the everlasting life of Jesus Christ? Drink deeply of his living water and let the Spirit of God fill you. Let your rivers flow in the streets that others may know Jesus Christ as their Savior. You do this by witnessing. Then disperse your fountain abroad. You do this by giving to missions so that others may hear about living water. Keep the river flowing!! Don’t cap the well. Don’t let it become stagnant.
