You Will Reap What You Sow Gal. 6:7 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
Evidently, there are many people who don’t think they are going to reap what they sow. I say that because they keep sowing to the flesh as if there will not be a time to reap. Be sure of this, “When you sow to the flesh you will reap what you sow.” When you somehow don’t think that statement is true, then according to Gal 6:7 there is, at least, one of three things wrong with you.
When you don’t think you are going to reap what you sow:
You are deceived – Gal 6:7 says, “Be not deceived” – this is what Heb 3:13 calls the “deceitfulness of sin.” Whether he is thinking or not, when a young man decides to fornicate he is going to reap a child, a venereal disease, a life of infidelity, a broken heart, lasciviousness, and so forth. When he decides to try drugs or alcohol he is going to reap failing grades, an addiction, unemployment, a busted home, theft, a police record, involuntary manslaughter, prison time, and so forth. When a man starts embezzling, evading his taxes, looking at pornography, gambling, fighting, running with the wrong crowd, committing adultery, lying, cheating, backbiting, gossiping, breaking the law, disobeying authority, and whatever else you can think of, he is sowing. And what goes around comes around. You deceive yourself when you believe that you can do these things and get away with them. Never. You will always reap the results of what you have sown. Always!!
You mock God – Gal 6:7 says, “God is not mocked” – this attitude of mocking God is particularly prevalent today among people who do not fear God. They look at the admonitions in the Bible, if they even bother, or they hear what they commonly refer to as a “hellfire and brimstone preacher,” and they just blow them off. They respond like Lot’s daughters and sons-in-law did when Lot warned them about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. But Paul tells us, God is not mocked. He will bring to pass every single judgment about which he warned you in the Bible, without fail. Just because he hasn’t brought judgment yet doesn’t mean that he won’t. It just means that his longsuffering, forbearance and mercy have withheld his judgment for the time being. You cannot mock God and get away with it. You will reap his judgment! When our country uses the constitution to overthrow the words of God in allowing the murder of unborn children or same sex marriage, it’s just a matter of time before we reap.
You are going to reap, anyway – Gal 6:7 says, “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” – in other words, if you have been ignorant of your deception or you didn’t realize that you have been mocking God, you need to realize that in spite of your ignorance, you are going to reap. Reaping what you have sown is just as natural a process as planting seeds and growing a crop. You had better start praying for a crop failure. You can say, “O God, please make the reaping go away.” He may intervene to some degree but he rarely ever stops the process. Your day of reaping is coming. Several friends are dead now and their deaths are partly the result of sowing some wild seeds in their teens, even though by their twenties they had quit sowing.
Conclusion: Since reaping what you have sown is an axiom, the best thing for you to do now is to stop sowing. The only way to ensure that you will not reap is to not sow. So quit sowing to the flesh and start sowing to the Spirit.
