Your Work Shall Be Rewarded II Chron. 15:7

Your Work Shall Be Rewarded II Chron. 15:7 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

Azariah said to Asa, Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded [2 Chr 15:7].  This verse should be an encouragement to keep you going in the work God has given you to do, though you haven’t received your reward yet.  You will.

Who will be rewarded?

Elders – 1 Tim 5:17-18 – elders who labor in the word and doctrine.  Three titles are given to pastors: bishop, pastor and elder.  Paul, here, refers to elders (pastors) who labor in the word.  The reward is one reason why your pastors don’t succumb to the modern heresies so popular among preachers.  We are not working to get up a crowd or to impress other men.  We are working for the Lord and our compensation is eternal, not temporal.  We must be strong and not let our hands become weak in the ministry.  Thanks for your prayers for us.

Servants – Col 3:22-25 – servants who serve the Lord when they work for men.  In your work, whether as an employee for your employer or a volunteer in the church, do your work as unto the Lord.  Your remuneration and compensation helps you pay bills but it’s nothing compared to the reward you receive for serving the Lord.  You should be the best employee in your company and the best volunteer at church because you’re working for the Lord, not men.  Be strong and let not your hands be weak.  Your work shall be rewarded.

Laborers – 1 Cor 3:6-15 – laborers in God’s husbandry who labor in God’s building [Eph 2:19-22].  We have the basic labor of planting and watering the seed so that God can give the increase.  Planting includes witnessing and handing out tracts to people.  Watering includes furthering the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of those who have already had the seed planted in them.  We led a lady to the Lord in Robstown whose mother planted the first seeds of the word of God in her heart when she was 15 years old.  The day she received Jesus, she was 65 years old.  Imagine that.  There were 50 years between the time of the sowing and the time of the reaping in her life.  Be strong and let not your hands be weak.  Your work shall be rewarded.

Conclusion: pastors keep working, knowing that you will be rewarded.  Employees keep working, knowing that you will be rewarded.  Volunteers keep working, knowing that you will be rewarded.  Laborers keep working, knowing that you will be rewarded.
