In the Bible, we find simple instructions on what to do with the word of God. Now, do what it says.
Read the word of God – Is 34:16 – read the Bible daily. The Bereans “searched the scriptures daily,” [Acts 17:11]. Obtain the recording of the KJV by Alexander Scourby. You can order the CD’s or download the app. Read your Bible everyday while listening to it being read. You need the Bible daily to feed your spirit like you need food daily to feed your body. You become weak when you neglect the word.
Believe the word of God – 1 Thes 2:13; Jn 5:39, 46-47 – the Bible doesn’t do anything for you if you don’t believe it. You must believe that God said. When you hit a passage you don’t understand, believe it just as it is written. God will show you what he wants you to know about it when he is ready to show you.
Love the word of God – Ps 119:127 – the psalmist said, “Therefore, I love thy commandments above gold.” Men and women, generally, love gold. You want to get to the place where you love the Bible more than anything. Loving the Bible will help you to love the Lord with all your heart.
Esteem the word of God – Ps 119:128 – the psalmist said, “Therefore, I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right, and I hate every false way.” When you esteem God’s Bible to be right, then everything else that doesn’t line up with this book is false. God created this universe; therefore, evolution is false. Noah’s flood is true, therefore, uniform geological progression is false. If you want to know the news, read the Bible and turn the TV off.
Follow the word of God – Ps 119:133 – the psalmist said, “Order my steps in thy word, and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.” You cannot follow God without following what he said. And when you follow what he said, sin won’t reign in your body [Rom 6:12].
Study the word of God – 2 Tim 2:15 – Paul said, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God…” In addition to reading the word of God, study it. Dig into it and let the Lord teach you it’s precepts and doctrines. Approach your studies with a believing heart and a humble mind.
Teach the word of God – 2 Tim 3:15 – Paul said to Timothy, “…from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures…” As you learn, read the Bible with your children and teach them what it says. You can also teach your co-workers and friends who want to learn about the Bible. In the world, people like to repeat the news. So, we should want to repeat the “good news.”
Conclusion: these simple instructions on what to do with the Bible will guide you for the rest of your life if you will just start doing them and stay with them.
