What do the Devils Believe?
James 2:19 ; Matt 8:28-34 ; Mk 5:1-21 ; Lk 8:26-40
James gives us an interesting fact regarding devils. The fact is they believe that there is one God. This sermon will look at the gospel accounts where Jesus cast the devils out of the man of Gadara to see what else devils believe.
What do Devils believe?
1) That Jesus is the Son of God (Matt 8:29 ; Mk 5:7 ; Lk 8:28)
- In each of these text the devils referred to Jesus as the Son of God or Son of the Most High God.
- This speaks better than many religions today. Some say Jesus is a son of God not thee son of God or that he was just a prophet.
- The question is what do you believe about Jesus? (Proverbs 30:21 ; Matt 16:13-16 ; Acts 8:37)
2) That they will judged in the future (Matthew 8:29 ; Luke 8:31)
- Here is where we will have to look at some bible in order to see this Judgment and how it connects to devils.
- There is spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). This is not just politicians and world leaders (Isaiah 24:31). During the Tribulation Satan and his angels are cast out of the 2nd Heaven (Revelations 6:13 ; 12:7-9). When Jesus comes at the 2nd Advent he bathes his sword in the heavens (Isaiah 34:4-5). This is why the sea gives up the dead which are in it at the Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20:11-15).
- Do you believe in a Judgment? If you die lost without God you will stand before him at the Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20:11-15).
3) They believe that Jesus has the power over judgment (Matt 8:31 ; Mk 5:12 ; Luke 8:31-32)
- The only one that can truly affect our judgment is Jesus Christ (John 14:6 ; Acts 4:12 ; 13:3-39)
- Jesus is the standard by which we are judged (Acts 17:31)
In closing we must note that in every gospel account the devils asked the same question, “What have we to do with thee Jesus” (Matt 8:29 ; Mark 5:7 ; Luke 8:28). That is the question that you must ask yourself, “What will you have to do with Jesus”? For the answer will determine where you spend eternity.
