Ways To Witness, 1 Thes 1:6-10

Ways To Witness

In the Bible we find several ways to witness to your friends.  You can:

Show them, 1 Thes 1:6-10.  The Thessalonians had such a testimony that Paul wrote, “in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad”.  The news of your salvation spreads when you have a complete change of life like they did.  They turned to God and away from their idols.  They served him and waited for his Son from heaven.

If you get saved but keep living life like you did when you were lost, your testimony is going to be ineffectual.  But, after you get saved, if you turn away from you old idols and start serving the Lord, they’re going to notice.  And if you start looking for and talking about Jesus’s return at the rapture, they’re going to know you mean “business” for the Lord.

Bring them, Jn 1:40-42.  This is the very familiar episode of Andrew first finding Peter and bringing him to Jesus.  v.42 says, “And he brought him to Jesus”.  One of the best things you can do for friends is to invite them to church to hear the gospel and bring them with you.  We have seen many people saved this way over the years.  And it takes the stress off of a person who is not yet comfortable preaching the gospel and fielding questions.

Guide them, Acts 8:29-35, particularly v.31.  This was a divine appointment set up by the Lord.  The Holy Spirit sent Philip to the eunuch at precisely the time that he was reading Isaiah 53.  Philip “opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus”, Acts 8:35.  This is what we should do when the Holy Spirit is leading us to preach to our friends who are lost.  We should obey his prompting and go to them.  Make an appointment and guide them through the scriptures as the Lord leads.

Conclusion: we have many names of people whom we have invited and for whom we have been praying.  We must follow these ways to witness from the Bible and diligently help those who will come to the Lord.
