These things have I spoken, that ye might have Peace

These things have I spoken, that ye might have Peace

John 16:33

Peace is one of the most sought after things in all the world but is also probably the hardest thing to find. A good example of this is found for us in Paul’s description of the lost world (Romans 3:9-18). Note in verse 17 “the way of peace they have not known”. In this sermon we will look at Peace with God and Peace of God to show the things that Jesus said unto his disciples before his departure that should bring them peace.

1) Peace with God (Romans 5:1)

  • Before the peace of God can be found, we must make peace with God. This is only done through the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 3:21-28 ; Isaiah 32:17 ; Ephesians 3:13-14)

2)  The Peace of God (Philippians 4:7)

  • This is the peace that everyone is looking for but cannot find. There must first be peace with God. This is also the peace that Jesus is speaking of in John 16:33 ; John 14:27.

What are the things that Jesus spoke unto the disciples to bring them peace?

1)  I am going away but I will be back (John14:1-6)

  • The end is just the beginning.

2)  He is here even though he is gone (John 14:16-28)

  • You are never alone, this is the peace that passes all understanding.

3)  In him we can bear fruit (John 15:1-8)

  • What we do really matters.

4)  We have a guide into all truth (John 16:12-15)

  • He alone will show you what is to come.

*In the world ye will have Tribulation but be of Good cheer I have overcame the world.
