The Process of Time
Genesis 4:3
In this sermon we will look at the phrase “process of time”. It only occurs 5 times in the bible so we will be looking at all of these scripture to show a connection between them and then give an application for us regarding the connection.
The Process of Time
This phrase is found 5 times in the Bible below we will list these scripture.
- Genesis 4:3 (Cain brings the wrong offering and this eventually leads to him killing his brother)
- Genesis 38:12 (Judah’s wife dies in this passage)
- Exodus 2:23 (The king of Egypt dies in this passage)
- Judges 11:4 (The children of Ammon made war with the children of Israel)
- 2 Chronicles 21:19 (Jehoram’s bowels fall because of his disease and he dies)
Not one of the above references is a positive or good reference. Each of the references are associated with death in some way. When scientist discuss or try to define time they will use the word Entropy, which simply defined is a how much disorder is in a system. So they will say that there is an arrow of time and it only goes one direction. With this thought and the thought of entropy we see in life path is really only going one direction and that most thing in life do not get better with time (just think of your body if you are over forty).
What can we do with this thought regarding the Process of Time?
1) Become a discerner of “this” time (Luke 12:56)
- We have an appointed time on earth (Job 14:14 ; Ecclesiastes 7:17)
- Our time is short (Psalm 89:47)
- Our times are in the hands of the Lord (Psalm 31:15)
2) Realize today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2)
- Today, that is right now, is all you really have (Ecclesiastes 9:12)
3) Redeem the time (Ephesians 5:16)
- How are we spending our time (Acts 17:21)
- Make it count (1 Peter 4:1-7)
4) Realize that one day we will be out of time (Revelation 10:6)
- Eventually everything in this universe will burn up and there will be time no longer.
- There are two question you must answer, where will you spend eternity and if you are saved will anything that you done last in eternity?
