According to 2 Thes 3:5, after you are saved the Lord directs you. The Lord directs:
Your heart – 2 Thes 3:5. The Lord directs your heart.
- He directs your heart into the love of God. Before we were saved we were ungodly sinners and enemies of God [Rom 5:6-10]. We need the Lord to direct our hearts into the love of God. We don’t come by this love naturally. We love him because he first loved us.
- He directs your heart into the patient waiting for Christ. As we grow in love of God we have a greater and greater desire to see him. We grow in our desire like a groom grows in his desire to marry his wife. But we must wait patiently for the Lord, till he comes.
Your paths – Prov 3:5-6 he shall direct thy paths. When you trust the Lord he directs you along the path he has pre[pared for you. In life, you are presented with several paths, at times. The Lord knows absolutely which path is best for you. When you look for his direction and follow it, you always end up on the right path.
Your ways – Ecc 10:8-10 wisdom is profitable to direct. The Lord gives you the wisdom you need for your ways. You get this wisdom from reading and following his words, from the leadership of the Holy Spirit, from prayer, and from the wise counsel of others who have been given wisdom in the ways of the Lord.
Your steps – Prov 16:9 the Lord directeth his steps [Jer 10:23]. You might think that God is not concerned with every little step you take. But he is. Though you devise your way, the Lord will direct your steps. It is important to the Lord that you always make the next right step. Don’t wait until you have messed up or gotten way off track to come running to the Lord. Check in with him every step of the way.
Conclusion: All the way from every single little step to your heart’s love of God, the Lord can and will direct you. Follow his direction.
