The Lips of the Righteous
Prov 10:21 says, “The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom”.
Let’s discuss this verse carefully and see how it applies to us.
The lips. We must speak. He said, “preach the gospel”. We have to keep our mouths open; we keep them closed, like Ezek 3:26-27. Then we hesitate when an opportunity presents itself. Will Avant said I’m telling everybody now. We should keep our mouths open and only close them when the Holy Spirit says (i.e., go from the presence of a foolish man, don’t go to Asia)
Of the righteous. You don’t have to be a great orator. You just need to be righteous. God uses vessels that are right with him. Prov 28:1 says, “The wicked flee when no man pursueth, but the righteous are bold as a lion”. Perhaps your timidity is your unrighteousness. Harboring secret sin, too worldly.
Feed Many. Your lips will feed as many as you tell. The more people you tell, the more people your righteous lips will feed. Just like the 5 loaves and 2 fishes, what you have to say may seem like so little. But when you open your mouth, it’s enough to feed 5,000.
But fools die. It’s not up to you what they do with what you say. They will live if they believe the words of God that you speak. They will die and go to hell if they refuse to believe the words of God. Very sad, but more are fools than wise.
For want of wisdom. Want is deficiency; the absence of that which is necessary or useful.
If they want wisdom because they are fools and don’t desire wisdom, then that’s on them. If they want wisdom because we’re not feeding them wisdom then that’s on us. We cannot let ourselves be the reason they don’t hear wisdom.
Conclusion: We should resolve in 2026 to be the lips of the righteous and feed many. I know the Lord wants us to do this. And I know we can if we will.
