The Spirit of Anti-Christ 1 John 4:1-4

In this lesson we are going to look at some of the characteristics of the anti-christ as well as some of the things he does during the tribulation. By looking at these things we can then see how the spirit of anti-christ is working today to help Satan set up for when the anit-christ will come and take over.

In Revelations 13:1-2 we learn that the anti-christ is represented as a beast that is made up of several different animals. This is why Satan is called Behemoth. Behemoth is a plural animal meaning more than one. These beast represent different kingdom and maybe even prophetically kingdoms today such as England, Russia, and the United States. From this we see that the more global our society, trade, financial systems and governments become it is just the spirit of anti-christ working to prepare the world for Satan.

Some Characteristics of the Anti-christ:

1)  Speaks great words against God (Daniel 7:25)

  • Satan has been attacking God’s word since Genesis 3.
  • But note today how people are not at all afraid to speak great blasphemies against God or his people.

2)  Think to change times and laws (Daniel 7:25)

  • Thirty or Forty years ago you would never imagine that we would have some of the laws that we have today but we do.
  • Also people got tired of dating things in regards to Jesus Christ so now we have C.E. (Common Era) and B.C.E. (Before Common Era) instead of B.C which is Before Christ. Just a subtle little way Satan is changing times and laws.

3)  Note he is connected with a raiser of taxes (Daniel 11:20)

  • There is a tax connected with Jesus Birth and there will be taxes in the tribulation to benefit the anti-christ.
  • Most all governments are funded by taxes.

4)  He is said to be a vile person (Daniel 11:21)

  • In the word of God vile is connected with sex perversion (Judges 9:24 ; Romans 1:26)
  • In Daniel 11:37 we see that the anit-christ does not desire women.
  • This explains why there is such a push today for homosexuality and transgenderism.

5)  Honors the god of forces (Daniel 11:38)

  • Science is worshipped over God today in most every college. Forces are connected with science why do you think that they call them forces of nature. The reality is that it is the forces of God and his creation.
  • It used to be that evolution was regarded as just another possibility. Today in schools you are considered ignorant and unlearned if you do not believe in evolution.

In Daniel 7:25 we saw that in the tribulation Satan will wear out the Saints. The spirit of anti-christ is wearing us out right now. It is hard to live in this society where sin and blasphemy against God are so rampant.

With that being said what can we do? There are two things that we must do. The first one is to read and study the word of God so we can try the spirits as it says in 1 John. We must be able to recognize the spirit of anti-christ when we see it. And secondly we must consider the author and finisher of our faith so that we do not faint in the day of adversity.
