When David charged Solomon to build the house of the Lord, he provided him with hewers and workers of stone.  They are the ones who mined the stone, brought it to the job site and shaped it for the building.  Notice the typology between them and us today, by studying the typology between Solomon and the Lord.

1 Chr 22:8 – like the bloodshed in the wars of the Old Testament

1 Chr 22:9 – a son shall be born [Is 9:6] Jesus; a man of rest [Matt 11:28]; rest from all his enemies [Col 2:14-15]; his name shall be Solomon (peaceable), Jesus is the Prince of Peace [Is 9:6]; I will give peace and quietness [1 Tim 2:2].

1 Chr 22:10 – He shall build an house [Eph 2:20-22; Heb 11:10; Rev 21:2, 9-10; spiritual 1 Pet 2:4-5] this house of Solomon built with stone and the house of God built with stones (the souls of men saved; lively stones); my son… his father [Jn 17]; the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever [Is 9:7; Lk 1:31-33].

1 Chr 22:12-13 – that thou mayest keep the law… fulfill the statutes and judgments [Matt 5:17-18; Rom 10:4]

1 Chr 22:13 – strength, courage, confidence, and fearlessness

1 Chr 22:14 – timber and stone [I see men as trees, walking Mk 8:24 – after we get saved we are stones] – thou mayest add thereto [which he does when we get saved]

1 Chr 22:15 – hewers and workers of stone… for every manner of work [1 Cor 3:9-15] – we are in God’s building program!!

  • Somebody has to mine the stone – like sowing and reaping
  • Somebody has to haul the stone – like getting them in church
  • Somebody has to hew the stone – sword [word] SS, BC, Preach, Disciple

1 Chr 22:16 – Arise therefore, and be doing, and the Lord be with thee

1 Chr 22:18 – rest on every side and land subdued – we have an adversary but he cannot stop this work – like the way that the adversaries were put down in Ezra

1 Chr 22:29 – arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the Lord God [we are not building our house, we are building his] – no one can stop this work but the workmen – don’t stop

Conclusion: 11/8 friend, neighbor day – bring in some timber [lost] and some stone [saved]
