Enoch Walked With God, Gen 5:21-24

One common problem with long people straying from the Lord is that they have no personal walk with God.  Well, Enoch walked with God and look how well things turned out for him.  Looking at Gen 5:22-24, we notice some things about a walk with God that should be apparent in your life and in the lives of your children.

Your walk with God is:

Personal – Enoch walked with God.  His walk was just between God and him.  It wasn’t about his wife or his kids or anyone else.  You must have a personal walk with God.  This is not something that is imposed upon you by someone else.  This is something you do because you want to and because God wants you to.  It is your decision.  It is your choice.  You are with him because you want to be with him.

Continual – Enoch walked with God.  He didn’t just check in with God.  He walked with him.  Thus, he and God were together wherever “they” went.  Enoch went where God went.  And he didn’t walk where God was not welcome.  A walk with God is something that affects your entire day because you never leave God and God never leaves you.  And your walk keeps you from veering off into something or some place or with someone that God doesn’t want you to be associated with.

Spiritual – Enoch walked with God.  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth [Jn 4:24].  Your walk with God will affect your spiritual life.  And your spiritual life will affect everything about you.  Look how walking with God affected Enoch’s view of his society [Jude 14-15].

Conclusion: If you don’t have a personal walk with God you cannot fake it for ever.  The product of a personal walk with God is unmistakable over time.  And the evidence of a life without a personal walk with God is just as recognizable.  God knows for sure if no one else can tell.  Why don’t you change that and start walking with God.  He surely wants to walk with you.
