Dwell in God, 1 Jn 4:15

Dwell in God

Dwell in God 1 Jn 4:15 Whosever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.  Dwell residence of some continuance.  Dwell in this case is a residence for life.  He is now your permanent dwelling.  He’s the person not the place.

So, no matter where you are on this earth, you still dwell in him.  He is your habitation.  Most of us want to sleep in our own bed.  It’s home to us.  When you realize that you dwell in him, you’re always home.  Even Paul and Silas in jail.

He’s in church with us today.  But you don’t come here to dwell with him.  Otherwise, you would have to be here 24/7.

And when you backslide, he’s not way up there and you are way down here.  You dwell in him and he dwells in you.  It’s like y’all are in different parts of the house.

Abide in Jesus Jn 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.  We must come back continually to the place where we dwell.  Not allowing anything to take you away from or keep you away from where you ought to be with him.

Lots of Christians don’t bear fruit because they don’t abide in the Lord.  They abide in the world.  They are not coming back each day to God to get spiritually fed, like a branch.  Daily reading, meditating on the word, prayer, communion, fellowship.

Come to a church with Jesus there.  But for many it’s worldly, sensual, and  humanistic.  It is not about meeting with the Lord.

Resort to God Ps 71:3 Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort.  This is where you go to refresh yourself, to sort out your thoughts and emotions, to patiently endure when you fall down and get back up, to wind down and rest, like before bedtime.  Illustration: the Welder Funk day with sibs.

Run to God Prov 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.  He is there for the times when you are being attacked by your enemies, particularly the world, the flesh, and the devil, but also conspirators.

The trouble comes and no friend can really get you through it.  They are there to encourage but God is there to show himself.  He’s the one who gets you “through” it.  Dennis Wells.

Ps 18:2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

He covers all the needs.  But you have to learn trust him.  Trust him to save you, to keep you, to protect you, to nourish you, to take you home to heaven when you die.  Complete trust in every thing.
