Ps 84:12 says, “O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.”  What are some of the blessings of trusting the Lord?  When you trust in the Lord:

You’ll be sure – Prov 3:5-6.  “Trust in the Lord… and he shall direct thy paths.”  When we trust in the Lord with all of our heart and we don’t lean unto our own understanding, in all ways the we acknowledge him, he will direct our paths.  Having the assurance of the Lord’s direction is one of the greatest blessings of trusting the Lord.  He is the only one in the world who can tell how any decision you make is going to turn out.  He is the only one who can truly lead you to make the right decision.  And he will never, ever lead you astray.  You can be sure of that. 

You’ll be satisfied – Prov 16:20.  “Whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.”  Most people I know like to be happy.  No doubt there are some who like misery and apathy;  but not me.  Happiness is not what the world pictures it to be, a giddy life of fun-filled recreation and entertainment.  Paul said about his life, “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable,” 1 Cor 15:19.  Yet, he also said, “Neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy,” Acts 20:24.  Paul had joy despite the trouble he endured.  He was happy because he trusted God.  You can only have that kind of happiness when you trust in the Lord.

You’ll be stuffed – Prov 28:25. “He that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat.” To be made fat is to abound in spiritual grace and comfort.  Paul said, “God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may around to every good work,” 2 Cor 9:8.  God has more grace than you have need. And if you will trust in the Lord, you will abound in his spiritual grace and comfort.

You’ll be safe – Prov 29:25.  “Whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.”  Solomon said, “The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.”  You don’t trust the horses; you trust the Lord.  Yet, safety is not the absence of preparation.  Some people tend to think that God will keep us safe no matter what.  But remember that Jesus didn’t accept the devil’s offer to jump off the pinnacle of the temple though Ps 91:11-12 assured him that God had given his angels charge over him.  You make the preparations, but you trust the Lord.  And when you do, he keeps you safe.

Conclusion: If you want to be sure, satisfied, stuffed and safe in this life, trust in the Lord.
