Blessed Is The Trusting Man, Ps 34:8

Blessed Is The Trusting Man

Blessed is the trusting man

Who puts his trust in the Lord, Ps 2:12, 34:8.  First and foremost we trust him for our salvation and eternal life.  1 Tim 4:10 “we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe”.  Notice, “all”.  Calvinism is a farce.  Jesus is the Saviour of all men, but he saves those who believe.  We trust in the living God for our salvation, not in ourselves.

But after we are saved, we must trust in the Lord for everything, even the smallest details.  For example, flying can be stressful and has been for me.  Not so long ago, the Lord really taught me to trust him with all the details.  I said to myself, “You are paying a lot of money for other people to worry about what’s stressing you out.  Let them worry about it and you trust God”.  Ps 56:3.  The Lord has blessed us in our travels, abundantly.

We must trust the Lord for his provision.  In 1 Tim 6:17-19.  Trust in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy.  Men worry about whether their provisions will be enough.  And if they have more than they need, they trust in uncertain riches rather than in the Lord.  The Lord has way more from which to provide than you do.  And his riches are not uncertain.

We must trust in the Lord for his direction, Prov 3:5-6. It is so easy to ignore the Lord’s direction when we are trying to figure out what to do.  We can’t lean to our own understanding.  We must acknowledge him and trust him fully.  He will direct our paths.  Don’t try to take back control or take over leadership from the Lord.  You’ll be wasting your time.

We must trust in the Lord for his protection.  When we preach the gospel, sometimes we find ourselves in trouble because of opposition.  Paul did, 2 Cor 1:8-10.  He trusted the Lord to protect him and to deliver him from death, as he had delivered him from death.  Prov 29:25 “but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe”.  Ps 146:3 “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help”.

There comes a time when we have finished our course.  And some men have been martyred at the end of their course.  But until God is ready for you, he’s going to protect you.  Trust him.  Ps 144:2 “My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust…”.

Conclusion: Prov 22:17-21.  To build your trust in the Lord, stay in the book.  The best time to start is when you’re young.  Ps 71:5 “For thou art my hope, O Lord God: thou art my trust from my youth”.  Parents, help your children to learn that blessed is the trusting man.
