When the Lord sends, we must Go.
In Rom 10:13-15 Paul asked, “And how shall they preach, except they be sent”?
He sent his apostles to the world. Mk 16:15 “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” In Rom 10:18 Paul said they did it, “…their words unto the ends of the world”. They fulfilled their commission.
He sent an individual to his friends. Mk 5:19 “Go home to they friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee…”. He fulfilled his commission, Mk 5:20.
He sent an individual to another individual. Acts 8:26 “Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza…”. Acts 8:29, “Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot”. He fulfilled his commission.
He sent a group to all nations. Matt 28:19-20 “Go ye therefore and teach all nations…”. They couldn’t have fulfilled this in their lifetime. That’s why the Lord promised he would be with them “even unto the end of the world”. So, there are still nations where we can be sent.
He sent individuals to a nation. Acts 16:9-10 “we endeavored to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them”. And they fulfilled their commission. According to 2 Cor 8:1 there were churches (plural) in Macedonia. Philippi, Thessalonica, and Berea are major Macedonian cities where they preached.
Conclusion: We should all tell our friends; we don’t need to be sent to do this. We should be responsive to the Holy Spirit when he sends us to an individual. Do not delay on these divine appointments. And we should listen for the Lord to send us to a nation and go when he sends.
