God Wants To Do Much More
God has already done much in our lives. Yet, he is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that he has already done. He can still do so much more.
God has the ability. There is nothing God cannot do. Consider all that he has already done. He trained 12 men and these 12 men started what eventually spanned the globe.
He sent one Australian to a country, where there were no Christians, and today there are several churches planted in this dark country.
God has the power. He raised Lazarus from the dead. He raised himself from the dead. And he saved, delivered, and transformed us. We are new creatures in Christ.
God has the people. He works “in us” and “in the church”. The body of Christ is the single most powerful entity in the universe. That’s why the devil works hard to divide, deceive, distract, and discourage us. Local churches work in localities and must remain in unity.
God has the time. “Throughout all ages, world without end”. Jesus Christ has not yet returned. So, we are still in an age when God can do much more. Even when we are in a state of decline.
God wants to do much more in the church with us now.
So what do we do? We must:
Pray. We need to ask God to do BIG things. He said, “ye have not, because you ask not”. The apostles prayed for boldness, and the whole place shook, Acts chapter 4. They prayed for open doors, and even prison doors were opened. We pray small. For example, we have more sick people on our prayer list than lost people.
If God can do above what we ask, then we are to ask big. Ask for something so big that if God doesn’t get involved, it will fail. Effectual prayer is when you connect with God and plug into his power. You have to get a hold of God in prayer.
Think. Think big. We limit God by our thinking. We are so much like the disciples were during Jesus’s earthly ministry. In feeding the 5000, they were calculating how much it would cost to feed them. They certainly saw five loaves and two fishes as insufficient to feed that crowd. Nevertheless, Jesus was able to take something very small and feed all the people, with 12 baskets of fragments left over.
Like Pastor Randy King said, “the guy who says it can’t be done and the guy who says it can are both right”. Our minds are overly consumed with our stuff. We must get God’s thoughts and mind on the matter.
Work. The Bible says, “the power that worketh in us”. This is like what Paul wrote to the Philippians, “work out your own salvation, for it is God, which worketh in you”. We have to put footsteps with our prayers.
We limit God by working our work rather than his work”. We are to be working for God; he’s not to be working for us. We are his servants; he is not our servant. We do his work and we can’t be lazy.
Give God the glory. “Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus”. Jesus glorified God by healing a blind man in John chapter 9. He glorified God through his death, burial and resurrection. And he glorifies God in the church. He does this by doing things in us and in the church that only God can do.
God can even do things we haven’t already seen him do in us before. He doesn’t do these things for our gain, or our promotion, or our recognition. He does what he does for his glory.
Conclusion: God wants to do so much more than he’s already done. He can do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. He has certainly give us something to think about.
Pray and ask God and keep asking till he answers. Work in his power and keep working his work. And be absolutely certain that you are doing all of this for the glory of God. Rachel Metzler said “there is no limit what God can do with a servant who will not touch the glory”.
