Things That Are Eternal

2 Corinthians 4:18

In this sermon we are going to look at some things that the Bible says are eternal. This is word that we truly do not understand or is at the least hard for us to comprehend. Below we will define the word using the American Dictionary of the English Language.

Eternal – without beginning or end of existence, without end of existence or duration; everlasting, immortal.

Things that are Eternal:

1)  God (Deuteronomy 33:27)

• This is the first time the word eternal is use in the word of God. If we are going to understand the word Eternal we must begin with God.
• Note Romans 1:20 and 1 Timothy 1:17

2)  Life (John 17:2)

• Eternal Life defined (John 17:3 ; 1 John 1:2 ; 1 John 5:20)
• Eternal Life promised before the world began (Titus 1:2)
• Words of Eternal life (John 6:68)
• Gift of Eternal life (John 10:28 ; Romans 6:23)

3)  Fire (Jude 1:7)

• If God is eternal and offers eternal life then the rejection of that offer will yield eternal fire.
• Note how the beast and the false prophet are still in the lake of fire 1000 years later (Revelation 19:20 with 20:10).

4)  Eternal Weight of Glory (2 Corinthians 4:17)

• What do you give the most weight or where is your focus, the temporal or the eternal?
