Whatsoever Thy Hand Findeth To Do
Ecclesiastes 9:10
We are going to compare this verse with 1 Corinthians 9:24 in order to make a spiritual application for serving God. Not there is a thought in both verses that encourages us to work hard for the Lord at anything we do. Here we will look at people in the bible who used what was in their hand to do something great for God to show us that there are many different ways to serve God.
1) Moses (Exodus 4:1-5)
- Many times we underestimate what God can do with what is in our hands. Note how Moses’ rod became the rod of God (Exodus 4:2 with Exodus 4:20)
- The key is to let God have what is in our hand (Example John 6:1-44, the little boy with 5 loaves and 2 fishes)
2) David (1 Samuel 17:38-40)
- Use what you have and what has already been proven.
- Smooth stones brought down a Giant.
- A smooth stone with the power of God is better than a sharp sword.
3) Samson (Judges 15:14-20)
- Here Samson with the power of God uses an unlikely weapon to kill 1000 Philistines. But he throws it away too quickly.
- The lesson for us here is do not be too hasty to throw away what works because you see something else, or someone using something else.
God is able to use all our abilities and talents for his servants we just have to be willing to let him have them and then work as hard as you can with what is in your hand.
