Saviour Christ Lord Luke 2:11 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
The angel of the Lord announced to the shepherds that the birth of Jesus was the birth of a very special person, “a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” We are going to look briefly at the significance of these three words.
Savior – Matt 1:21 Jesus “save” – 1 Tim 2:3-6 – he is the one by whom we are saved – God would not have sent him if we didn’t need him in order to be saved.
Christ – Jn 1:41, 4:25 – anointed – but also the Jewish fulfillment of all the prophecies concerning Israel’s redeemer and deliverer – he is God’s man – he’s the one in whom the Old Testament culminates – Rom 10:3-4
Lord – Rom 10:9-10 – the confession of a man who truly believes – 1 Cor 12:3 – even those who are lost will confess this truth Phil 2:9-11 – shows that he is God ‘the Lord’ – and shows that when you receive him he comes to run the life he saves.
Conclusion: your greatest rest comes from letting Jesus save you – letting him be your righteousness before God – and letting him run your life – ‘take your hands off the reins’
