  They are:

1. Conceived by lust (v. 16)
   1. Jas 1:14-15
2. Contrary to the Spirit (v. 17)
   1. Didn’t have war until saved, but now you have a way to fight
   2. Walk in the Spirit (can’t if in law)
   3. Rom 7:18-19
3. Magnified by the law (v. 18)
   1. Not controlled by law
   2. We have laws and a totally lawless society
   3. Saying “NO” means “Do It”
   4. Rom 7:7-8

Three Categories:

Flesh

• Adultery – Thought and Act, Matt 5:28
• Fornication – the Act, Even when married, Matt 19:9
• Uncleanness – morally unclean, includes Iniquity, Wickedness, Filth
• Lasciviousness – no restraint, Inordinate affection and homosexuals, II Cor 12:21 in Corinth
• Drunkenness – too much to drink, Eph 5:18
• Revellings – Bashes, parties, dances; i.e. Mardi Gras; I Pet 4:3-4

Eyes

• Idolatry – idols and covetousness – Acts 17:23; Col 3:5
• Witchcraft – employing sorcery –  Exercise of supernatural powers; I Sam 15:23
• Emulations – striving by imitation – To equal others in accomplishment or quality; Rival; Peer Pressure
• Envying – Painful resentment of an advantage enjoyed by another accompanied by desire to possess the same advantage

Pride

• Hatred – To cross – Prov 10:12, Hatred stirreth up strife, but love covereth all sins
• Wrath – Discord, state of being in disagreement, controversy – Matt 10:35-36 -Rage expressed vehemently and accompanied by bitterness – Prov 27:3-4
• Strife – Fight, quarrel, state of distrust or enmity – Often bitter – Prov 15:18
• Sedition – Resistance to lawful authority, tumults, rebel – Barababas, Lk 23:25
• Heresies – Opinions and doctrines contrary to the truth – Comp. Acts 24:14
• Murderers – Killings – see I Jn 3:15

Results:

Such an one won’t inherit the kingdom of God.  Because you gave in to the flesh here and received your reward here (like the prodigal son), although you are still a son of God, you spent it with riotous living and will not receive an inheritance.
