Give Thanks, Ps 106:1

Give Thanks

Ps 106:1 says, O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.

Ps 107:1, Ps 118:1, and Ps 136:1 start the same way.  God has been good to us because he is good.  Thank God!!

And it’s a good thing that his mercy endureth forever because even today we have required his mercy.  We will always be in need of his mercy until we are out of this corrupt flesh and in our glorified bodies.  So, daily we should rise to thank him.  Start the day and end the day giving thanks to God.

Now look at the second verses in these four Psalms.  Ps 106:2 who can utter.  Ps 107:2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.  Ps 118:2 Let Israel now say.  Ps 136:2 from this verse through the end of the Psalm, the Psalmist is listing the mighty acts of God (see Ps 106:2, again).

Thus, giving thanks to God is not just a matter of us thanking God.  It is also a matter of us uttering, saying so, saying, and recounting his mighty acts in the presence of others that they may know that God is good and that his mercy endureth forever.  They need his goodness and mercy, too.  And most of them don’t realize this yet.

Speak up and speak out when you give thanks!!  You’ll help others while you’re thanking God.
