The Gift of Healing

1 Cor.12:9

            The Spiritual gift of healing is not present in the church today. It was given as a sign to Israel to believe or trust in God. Let us look at healing in the Bible and see the reason for and the progression of.

Exodus 4:1-9   A sign so that the Jews would believe.

Deu. 18:15-18   A Prophet (Jesus) to come with signs, like Moses.

Matt.4:23-24    Jesus healed (a sign) to prove he was the one. More healing than preaching

Matt. 10:1-8    gave these gifts to disciples- even Judas!   Go not in the way of Gentiles.

1 Cor. 1:22     Jews require a sign.

Matt. 8:16, 12:15, Luke 4:40, 6:19      Jesus healed ALL. (Unlike healers of today)

Mark 6:1-6   Unbelief limited the size of crowd, not the healing.

Matt. 17:14-21   not healed because of disciple’s unbelief.

2 Cor. 12:12   Apostles had signs (Paul- Acts 20:7-12- Raised Eutychus! Acts 28:1-10, he healed himself, the chief and others. Acts 19:11-12 he could send a handkerchief to another and they would be healed)

Acts 3:1-9   Peter healed a lame man, Acts 5:1-16, Acts 9:36-41 raised Tabitha from dead!

2 Cor. 11:13-15   Warning of False Apostles  –  Acts 15- wrong doctrine accompanies them

2 Cor. 2:14-17    Corrupt the Word of God

Acts 20:28-30   “grievous wolves”     and      Matt.7:15-20 false prophets

Matt.7:21-23    Unsaved doing signs. After the working of Satan

2Thes. 2:8-10    Anti-Christ will have signs to deceive

Rev. 2:1-2     there is folks that figure it out, with the right doctrine.

1 Tim. 5:23    “use a little wine”, 2 Tim. 4:20    “left at Miletum sick” Paul no longer had the gift of healing because he was the Apostle of the Gentiles

Acts 13: 44-46    Paul to the Gentiles, no need for signs
