The Bible says that the righteous are bold as a lion – when you got saved you became righteous in Jesus Christ – and the only thing that can set you back is piling up sins in the flesh that cause you to run around with a guilty conscience – look what a guilty conscience did to Joseph’s brothers in Gen 50:15 even after they had been forgiven – a lot of Christians act like this – when Israel gets out of line with God look how this nation flees even though they were promised that one would chase a thousand – Lev 26:36 – 2 Ki 7:6-7 – look how the Syrians fled at a noise (they were wicked).

When you are in a right relationship with God and you have the words of God you have no reason to back down from any legitimate spiritual fight – you should be as bold as a lion because your Savior is the Lion of the tribe of Judah.  Look what he did to the religious hypocrites of his day (Matt 21:13 and Matt 23).

This boldness was apparent in Peter and John – Acts 4:13, 19-20; 5:29.

This boldness was apparent in Paul – Acts 24:25 in front of Felix and Acts 26:27-8 in front of Agrippa – he had folks praying for his boldness in Eph 6:19-20.

Daniel was so bold that he kept on praying in spite of the decree and ended up staring down the very lions that were supposed to eat him – Dan 6 – old Paul got delivered out of the mouth of the lion too – 2 Tim 4:17.

Don’t mistake meanness for boldness – there is a difference and I had to learn it – a man can be plenty bold and be charitable at the same time – Paul pled with the Corinthians and the elders of Ephesus with tears, Acts 20:31, 2 Cor 2:4 – but he was bold.

Of course, you have to watch out for the smooth talkers as we have warned you many times before – it is better to be a sheep in wolf’s clothing than to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing – but there’s nothing wrong with being a sheep in sheep’s clothing – a be what you are.

When you’ve lost your courage you’ve lost it all, so be bold – you are the offspring of a lion not a house cat!!
