The Counterfeit 2 Cor. 11: 14 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

The devil is the enemy of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Yet, when he presents himself, he is often manifested as the antitype of Jesus.  And when he works through a religion, he is a counterfeit.  Notice these antitypes:

Jesus Christ appears, at times, as an angel.  You see him as the angel of God in Acts 27:23-25. When the angel of God appears to Paul on the ship in the midst of the storm, Paul said of his relationship to him, “whose I am, and whom I serve.”  That’s Jesus.

The devil has transformed himself into an angel of light.  2 Cor 11:14 says, “… for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”

Jesus Christ is the light of the world.  In Jn 8:12 he says, “I am the light of the world.”

As you saw in 2 Cor 11:14, the devil is transformed into an angel of light.

Jesus Christ is a lion.  He is the lion of the tribe of Judah in Rev 5:5.

The devil is a roaring lion going about seeking whom he may devour [1 Pet 5:8].

Jesus Christ is anointed.  Christ means anointed.  According to Acts 10:38, God anointed Jesus.

The devil was also anointed.  In Ezek 28:14, he was the “anointed cherub that covereth.”

Jesus is the Christ.  Peter said, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God,” [Matt 16:16].

The devil is antichrist.  In 1 Jn 2:18, John said, “… ye have heard that antichrist shall come.”  The devil will be incarnate in Rev 17:8.

Jesus Christ is God.  1 Tim 3:16 says, “God was manifest in the flesh.”  Jn 1:1, 14 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us.”

The devil is the god of this world.  2 Cor 4:4 says, “… the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them that believe not.”

Jesus Christ is a King.  He is the King of kings [Rev 19:16].

The devil is also a king.  He is “a king over all the children of pride,” [Job 41:34].

Jesus Christ had a 3 1/2 year earthly ministry.  There are four Passovers during his earthly ministry [Jn 2:13; Jn 5:1; Jn 6:4; Jn 12:1].  He was crucified on the fourth.

The devil will rule for 3 1/2 years of the Tribulation.  In Rev 12:13-14 the Jews flee to the wilderness where they are fed with manna 42 months while the devil tries to annihilate them [Rev 12:6-9].

Notice these counterfeits:  When the devil works through a religion, he counterfeits Jesus Christ so that the world is inclined to believe that his religion is God’s.

When the Jews were enticed into committing fornication with the Moabites and into worshipping their gods, notice the Satanic trinity.  Baal was the false god [Num 25:3], Balak was the false king [Num 22:2-3] and Balaam was the false prophet [Num 22:5].  You will see these three again in the tribulation in Rev 13.  You have the false god [v. 4, the dragon], the false king [v.1-8, the beast out of the sea], and the false prophet [v.11-16, the beast out of the earth].  These are counterfeits of the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost.

Today we are dealing with more counterfeits, which you may not have recognized as counterfeits any more than the thousands of Jews who were deceived into worshipping Baal.  Those counterfeits show up in Islam.  There are those who want you to believe that Allah and the God of the Bible are the same God, just called by different names.  But this is not so.  Allah is a counterfeit of the true God.  Mohammed is a counterfeit of the true prophet.  And the Caliph will be a counterfeit of the rightful king, Jesus.

Jesus Christ is a prophet [Deut 18:15-18] and Mohammed is said to be a prophet.  Oddly, when you read the Koran, he never prophesied.  He’s a counterfeit.  Jesus will rule the world from David’s throne in Jerusalem [Is 9:6-7; Ezek 48:35].  During the Tribulation the devil is going to profess himself to be God as he sits in the temple in Jerusalem and rules the world [2 Thes 2:4].  He’ll be a counterfeit.  Jesus Christ will be the governor among the nations [Ps 22:28].  The head of an Islamic State is the Caliph.  A caliph would be a counterfeit world ruler.  Jesus Christ will rule his world-wide kingdom in the earth [Ps 22:28; Rev 11:15].  The Caliph of the Islamic State would rule a Caliphate.  His caliphate would be a counterfeit.  Jesus Christ will do everything in absolute fulfillment of all of the prophesies of the Bible [Matt 5:18].  The Caliph will follow the Koran.  The Koran is a counterfeit word of god.

Conclusion: I know these contrasts are disturbing to some, but when you consider how the devil has worked through history, you realize that if you don’t understand the truth of his antitypical and counterfeit manifestations, you will be deluded like the rest of the world when he comes [2 Thes 2:8-12].  Don’t be fooled by any world religion whose head desires world dominance.
