The Paths of the Lord Ps. 25:4 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
Ps 25:4 talks about the paths of the Lord. It says, Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. So, the Lord has some paths that we can find in the Bible and these are the paths upon which you and I should walk through this life. These are the old paths [Jer 6:16]. These are the straight paths [Matt 3:3; Heb 12:13]. These are the paths where the Lord extends mercy and truth [Ps 25:10]. The paths of the Lord are:
The paths of life – Prov 2:19 says, “None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.” The paths of life are the path of salvation in Jesus Christ [Jn 14:6; 1 Jn 5:12], the path of abundant life through Jesus Christ[Jn 10:10; 2 Cor 5:17], the path of submission to the will of God [Phil 2:12-13], the path of obedience whereby our lives and days are lengthened [Eph 6:1-3], the path of fellowship with Jesus Christ as we walk with him [1 Jn 1:3], etc.
The paths of light – Job 24:13 says, “They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.” The paths of light are the path of light in your King James Bible [Ps 119:105], the path of light in the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ whereby others get saved, the path of light in the presence of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit in us [Eph 5:8-14].
The paths of righteousness – Ps 23:3 says, “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” The paths of righteousness are the paths of uprightness [Prov 2:13] where you walk uprightly and the paths of the righteous [Prov 2:20] where you follow other men who are walking in righteousness and others follow you.
The paths of wisdom – Prov 3:17 says, “Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.” All the paths of wisdom are peace. The paths of wisdom are the path of the inspired words of God [Prov 2:6, 8:1], the path of godly counsel, the path of the fear of the Lord, the path of godly experience [Rom 5:4], etc.
The paths of judgment – Prov 2:8 says, “He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.” The paths of judgment are the path of Calvary where our sins were judged, the path of confession where we judge ourselves, the path of service in preparation for the judgment seat of Christ, etc.
Conclusion: these are the paths of the Lord for Christians. Make sure that you are walking on these paths and not on the paths of the crooked, which we’ll discuss tomorrow.
